2024 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

BACKGROUND, INSTRUCTIONS AND REQUISITES

BACKGROUND

The Denver Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha is pleased to invite current high school seniors to apply for our academic scholarships.

Our scholarships are available to African-American males with a proven record of superior scholarship and service to the community. Previous winners of our scholarships have had an average cumulative GPA of 3.4 and/or have demonstrated exceptional community service. Several scholarships in the amount of a one-time award of $7,000.00 are available.

 

Each online application will require the following:

  1. A completed application form with essay

  2. Two (2) letters of recommendation

  3. One high quality photo (preferably your senior portrait)

  4. Copy of High School Transcript

  5. Press Release Consent (consented by parent or guardian)

Time Line

  • Completed applications must be submitted by Sunday, March 17, 2024.

  • Notification to selected candidates for interviews will be emailed by Saturday, March 30, 2024.

  • Interviews will be conducted prior to Monday, April 29, 2024.

  • Scholarship Winners Notification Letter will be emailed by Friday, May 3, 2024.

  • Black Tie Recognition Event to be held at the Hilton Denver Inverness on Saturday, June 1, 2024. (More details pending)

  2. Please complete the application in its entirety

  3. Please submit the application by the due date

  4. The application is an editable web form

SCHOLARSHIP Requisites
  1. You must be male to apply for this scholarship

  2. You must be African-American, as defined by your high school transcript

  3. You must currently attend a high school in the Denver metro area (Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, or Jefferson counties)

  4. You must complete the application process (completed application submitted by the due date and successfully interview if provided the opportunity to interview)

  5. You must pursue at a minimum an Associate's (AS or AA only) degree, from a regionally accredited institution capable of awarding an Associate’s degree

  6. You must attend college in the Fall semester after high school graduation on at least a three-quarters time basis as determined by the institution you are attending

  7. All students must compete fairly on their own efforts

  8. You must complete the application in full
